This is our third staging of Read Caribbean and we are looking to make a bigger impact in the Reading community. The month of June is celebrated as Caribbean Heritage Month and it is a month where we encourage people to Read Caribbean.

In 2019 I started the calling June Read Caribbean month to tie in with the Caribbean Heritage month celebrations. This initiative was started to create awareness for Caribbean Literature, Caribbean Authors and Authors from Caribbean Heritage. The aim of the Read Caribbean month is to encourage persons to:

  • Read books by Caribbean Nationals/ persons of Caribbean heritage
  • Books about the Caribbean
  • Books set in the Caribbean

Currently we have over 60 Caribbean Bookstagrammers living in the Caribbean and the diaspora who are actively taking part in Read Caribbean month. They will be using their platform to create awareness about Caribbean authors and their work.

Here is the list of activities you can look forward to in June for #ReadCaribbean month.

Read Caribbean Challenge

If you are looking to get in on the Read Caribbean action, or increase your reading list then the Read Caribbean challenge is for you! On specific days in June we will be creating awareness for different genres of Caribbean Literature. The challenges will be creating awareness for Caribbean Women authors, Queer authors, poetry, folklore and an introduction to various Caribbean Bookstagrammers and why they are taking part in the initiative. Be sure to follow the hashtag to get in on all the action.
