Reading Retreat

Hello, I am BookOfCinz! I am an avid reader and traveler and I love all things Caribbean. Over the last five years, I have been sharing my love for Caribbean Literature and showcasing my travels to various Caribbean Islands.  I executed four Reading Retreats in Dominica, Jamaica and Anguilla having readers from the Caribbean, US and UK.

I am excited to announce that in 2025 we will be travelling to five Caribbean destinations and you are invited!  If you love reading, if you love exploring the Caribbean then these reading Retreats are for you! Come join me was we visit Dominica, Grenada, Jamaica, St. Lucia and Trinidad and Tobago in 2025!

COME TO MY READING RETREAT

Grenada

Day One

We arrive in beautiful Grenada where you will check into the hotel. Once you are settled and brief we will head out to Dodgy Dock Street Food Wednesday. This is a great opportunity to eat like a local, party like a local and get a feel for Grenada. There will be amazing food, live brand and a DJ to close out the night.

We will have a slow morning to recover from the night before. Breakfast will be at the villa and then we head to the beach for the entire day to Read and rest. Grand Anse Beach is voted the best in Grenada and we get to soak it all up. After that we will head back to the villa for the official welcome dinner and book club night.

This will be a full day of activities where we get to explore Grenada with a full island tour. Get ready for a full island tour including a local breakfast, drive through the capital city to see the monuments. We will be visiting various museums including the nutmeg, rum distillery and cocoa pods. To end the day we will have a sip and paint then a delicious dinner.

Get ready to spend the entire day sailing to various cays in Grenada. We will be doing snorkel stops, seeing the underwater sculpture park and having a great time on the Caribbean sea. After a day on the sea we head back to the villa to have dinner.

For our last day in Grenada we will be having a boozy bottomless brunch! Then we head to the beach for the rest of the day before heading back to the villa to get ready for the closing dinner.

We have breakfast, say our goodbyes!

St. Lucia

Day One

We arrive to St. Lucia, where we will be driven down to Soufriere to spend the rest of the afternoon. After checking into Fond Doux Resort, we will have a delicious welcome dinner to kick off the Retreat.

We kick off the day to slow start, exploring the property, having breakfast. We will then head to Sugar Beach for a read and beach day. Lunch will be at the beautiful Jade Mountain overlooking the Pitons. After lunch we will then head back to the beach for more reading. Dinner will be at The Mango Tree Restaurant at Stonefield Hotel.

Let’s do a tour of St. Lucia starting with the Sulfur springs, then the waterfalls. Lunch will be at Ladera Restaurant. From there we will have a chocolate and rum tour to close out the evening. Dinner will be at Fond Doux.

After a delicious breakfast at Fond Doux we will head to an all day on the sea tour. Get ready to spend the day on a Catamaran, snorkeling in the Caribbean sea with the video of the Pitons. After getting back, we will head to dinner at Orlando’s.

For our final day, we will be doing a mini-Piton trail hike with a waterfall, from there we will head to the beach for the entire day. The closing dinner will be at Fond Doux.

Trinidad & Tobago

Day One

We arrive in Trinidad and Tobago for the first ever BOC Bookish Getaway! You will be picked up from Piarco airport and taken to the hotel for check-in and orientation. After a little rest and relaxation, we will have our welcome dinner. (FreeBird)

This is the first day of the BOCAS Lit Festival which kicks off at 10:00am. We will head out for breakfast at 7:30am at a local spot before heading to the festival for the entire day. Lunch will be dropped off at the venue. After a full day of festival activities we depart for the hotel to reset. Dinner will be street food at the Queen’s Park Savannah then we head to Black Box to party like a local!

We kick off today with a mini doubles crawl for breakfast, then head to a coffee shop for our coffee and tea fix! We then head to BOCAS Lit Festival for a full day of literary events. A delicious roti will be delivered at lunch time! We spend the rest of the day at the event before heading back to the hotel to refresh. ONE WOODBROOK YARD

This is the last day of the literary festival, we kick it off with breakfast at a Lola’s or Rileys restaurant before heading to the festival for the entire day. (CREOLOE KITCHEN) Lunch will be a local favorite! Participants can decide if they want to go the slam poetry or have dinner at a local spot.

Today we head to beautiful Tobago for the entire day! Yes, we will be starting our day at 6:00am to take a 22min flight to the island. Once we land we will head to Englishman’s Bay for the scenery, then we stop in Castara for a delicious local breakfast. We take a scenic drive to Pigeon Point where we will be for the entire day, reading and relaxing. After a full day in Tobago, we flight back to Trinidad, grab dinner and close out the day. KFC on Woodbrook Yard.

Get ready to live like a local! First stop is to Paramin where we will have a delicious breakfast!  North Deck look out.  How can we make it to Trinidad and not try Bake and Shark at Maracas?! Then we head to Port of Spain where we will shop like a local, visiting our favorite Artisans for souvenirs and a wardrobe update. We head back to the hotel to get ready for our closing dinner at Calabash by Chef Bridget.

After breakfast, we say our goodbyes and head to the airport.

Jamaica

Day One

We arrive in Jamaica via Kingston or Montego Bay. You will be picked up and driven to the sleepy town of Treasure Beach.  After the long drive you will be greeted with a welcome drink, you get a chance to take in the views, settle in and get ready for a welcome dinner with everyone. 

We start off slow by waking up in paradise. We sleep in, only waking up to the alarms of the waves from the sea. Breakfast at the property and you get to laze around. After a delicious lunch we will then head to the world-famous Pelican Bar for a drink and to relax. Book Club and dinner at the villa! 

We get up early for our full day trip to Negril, home of the world famous 7-mile white sand beach stretch and Rick’s Cafe! We arrive in Negril, head to Skylark to… well, skylark. Then head over Rockhouse for lunch and after Rick’s cafe to people watch. After a long day of being out, we head back to the villa for dinner. 

We kick of the day with breakfast before heading to learn more about the award-winning Appleton Rum!  After the immersive rum tour, we cool down at YS Falls. We will soak in the falls, before heading back to Treasure Beach for the rest of the day.

For our last day we will have a Boozy Beach Book Brunch to celebrate a great Retreat so far. From there we will do a mini tour of Treasure Beach before heading to Jacksprat for lunch. All good things must come to an end as we have our closing out dinner at the villa!

Time to go, but not before having a delicious Jamaican breakfast where you will then be driven to your airport.

Dominica

Day One

We arrive in Dominica at the airport where a river runs pass. You will be taken to Sea Cliff cottages to check in and be welcomed with a delicious dinner.

We start off slow by waking up in paradise. We sleep in, only waking up to the alarms of the waves from the sea. Breakfast at a local restaurant in Calibishie followed by Red Rock, chocolate tour. We will then spend the entire day at the beach reading and relaxing before heading back to Sea Cliff for an amazing dinner.

We will have a farm to table brunch at Sea Cliff cottages where we will talk books and reading. Then we leave for an Indian River tour followed by dinner at a local restaurant as the sun sets.

Did you know Dominica is one of the few places in the world you can see whales all year round? This is your chance to see whales in the wild. We will head to the capital for a whale watching tour, a mini tour of the capital, followed by lunch and a drive back. This night will be our book club night.

For our last day we will be chasing waterfalls! Get ready to see some beautiful falls, relax and close our a beautiful time in paradise. We will then have our close out dinner. 

Time to go, but not before having a delicious local breakfast where you will then be driven to your airport.
