Reading Retreat

Hello, I am BookOfCinz! I am an avid reader and traveler and I love all things Caribbean. Over the last five years, I have been sharing my love for Caribbean Literature and showcasing my travels to various Caribbean Islands. I have executed 12 Reading Retreats in Anguilla, Dominica, Grenada, Jamaica, St. Lucia, and Trinidad and Tobago. Over 100 Readers from the Caribbean, African, Caribbean US and UK came to the Retreats.

I am excited to announce that in 2026 we will be travelling to five Caribbean destinations and you are invited!  If you love reading, if you love exploring the Caribbean then these reading Retreats are for you! Come join me was we visit Anguilla, Dominica, Grenada, Jamaica, St. Lucia and Trinidad and Tobago in 2026!

Jamaica

Date: June 17-June 22, 2026
TREASURE BEACH

Day one

Arrival can be in Kingston or Montego Bay and then you will be shuttled to the sleepy, bookish town of Treasure Beach. After the long drive you will be greeted with a welcome drink, you get a chance to take in the views, settle in and get ready for a welcome dinner with everyone.

We start off slow by waking up in paradise. We sleep in, only waking up to the alarms of the waves from the sea. Breakfast at the property and you get to laze around. After a slow morning, we will then go for a local tour at a cove with a fisherman who will then treat us to some fresh catch. We will head back to the villa for dinner and book club.

We get up early for our full day trip to Negril, home of the world famous 7-mile white sand beach stretch and Rick’s Cafe! We arrive in Negril, head to Skylark to . well, skylark. Then head over Rockhouse for lunch and after Rick’s cafe to people watch. After a long day of being out, we head back to the villa for dinner.

We kick of the day with breakfast before heading to learn more about the award-winning Appleton Rum!  After the immersive rum tour, we cool down at YS Falls. We will soak in the falls, before heading back to Treasure Beach for the rest of the day.

For our last day we will have a Boozy Beach Book Brunch to celebrate a great Retreat so far. From there we will do a mini tour of Treasure Beach before heading to Jacksprat for lunch. All good things must come to an end as we have our closing out dinner at the villa!

Time to go, but not before having a delicious Jamaican breakfast where you will then be driven to your airport.

Antigua and Barbuda

Date: July 1- July 6, 2026

Day one

We arrive in beautiful Antigua where you will be picked up and taken to Siboney Hotel on the beach. Get ready for a delightful welcome drink, followed by a delicious welcome dinner at Siboney. 

We start the day slowly with breakfast at the hotel followed by a full day at the beach. Get ready to rest and reset on a beautiful beach, sleeping, reading and having lunch. After our long day we will head to Shirley Heights for dinner and reggae night. 

After breakfast we head out to for a full Antiguan island tour. We will be visiting Devil’s Bridge, doing a rum tour, chocolate tour and having lunch at a sea side bar.  Once we finish our tour, we head back to the hotel for dinner. 

Let’s have breakfast before heading on a full day catamaran tour. We will get to see some beautiful cays, spend the day at sea and eat a delicious meal. After our long day at sea, we will head back to the hotel to rest. Dinner will be at a local restaurant. 

We will have a slow morning before heading to the beach for the entire day to rest, reset and read. This is our last full day in Antigua. Closing dinner will be at one of Antigua’s famous restaurants, Pap Zouk

After breakfast we say our goodbyes and head off.

Dominica

Date: October 9-October 14
October 16-October 21, 2026

Day one

We arrive in Dominica at the Douglas Charles airport where a river runs pass. You will be taken to Sea Cliff cottages to check in and be welcomed with a delicious dinner.

We start off slow by waking up in paradise. We sleep in, only waking up to the alarms of the waves from the sea. Breakfast at a local restaurant in Calibishie followed by Red Rock, chocolate tour. We will then spend the entire day at the beach reading and relaxing before heading back to Sea Cliff for an amazing dinner.

We will have a farm to table brunch at Sea Cliff cottages where we will talk books and reading. We will do a locally run garden tour followed by a tasting. Dinner will be a river lime. 

We will be visiting the two of Roseau for the day. First stop is the museum, the craft market, we will then head to Scott’s Head for the day, we get to see the Caribbean Sea meet the Atlantic and chill at the beach. A mini tour of the capital, followed by lunch and a drive back. We will then have a collage making class before heading into Book Club.

For our last day we will be chasing waterfalls! Get ready to see some beautiful falls, relax and close our a beautiful time in paradise. We will then have our close out dinner.

Time to go, but not before having a delicious local breakfast where you will then be driven to your airport.

FAQs

What does the cost include?

The cost includes accommodations (own room for single occupancy, own bed for
double occupancy), food (breakfast, dinner and some lunches) tours, airport
transfers, transportation on the ground, admissions to tours, and soft drinks.

The cost does not include airfare; you will have to purchase your ticket to the islands. It does not include travel insurance, some lunches, tips or alcohol.

We have single occupancy rooms, and they come with one bed. The cost varies for the single occupancy. If you want to book single occupancy room and share the bed with a friend, that is an option, it would be at a reduced cost- please reach out directly on this.

The cost is for each person. You share a room, but you don’t share beds.

Every island will have a different airport code, please reach out to confirm which one is yours.

No. Each person will be given their own bed. Each room comes with a bathroom.

No, you do not have to do all the tours. If you want to come and stay in the villa the entire time, you are free to do so.

We do not take people under the age of 20 years old. We had a mother daughter
once, so we do from 20 to over 60.

No, but it would be nice to read the ONE book we will be discussing. We read one
book and discuss on the trip.

YES, there is! The funds are non-refundable or transferable. To secure your spot you must pay $500USD. The second payment is due within 1-2 months after and the final is due before the retreat.

Payment can be made through direct bank transfer in Jamaica and Trinidad and
Tobago. Payoneer, Zelle for international persons, TD Bank transfer and paypal.

You only read one book and that’s the book club pick for that month.
