In 2018 I read 200 Books. It still blows my mind when I think of the fact that in 365 days, I read 200 books, that is over 58,000 pages, that amounts to 0.5 books a day- yess… madness. With that said, I have decided to not aim for such a high goal next year. While this was a major accomplishment and I am beyond proud of myself because I never thought I could read over 170 books in a year, I did what I thought was the impossible. 200 books in a year, wow. It feels surreal. In an upcoming post I will talk about my top 20 books for 2018.
Overall it seems July and September I did the most reading, it might have been my lack of vacation or the number of days in those months. January and December were my lowest reading month mainly because in January I am usually recovering from my trips. December, I decided I would only read enough to meet my Reading goal and not a single book over that goal. However, this graph accurately portrays my reading habits every year.
While I read over 200 Books, here is what you should note:
Longest Book and most disappointing read- The Goldfinch by Donna Tarrt
One of my major goals for 2018 was to read more Caribbean Authors and books about the Caribbean. I am happy to report I read over 30 books that were written by Caribbean Authors. Some of these were re-reads but each book was a great way to experience the Caribbean. This photo does not even begin to capture the stack but, I am working on a final photo for my Caribbean Wrap-up post.
Another bookish goal for this year was to re-read some of my favorite reads. I am happy to report I re-read 36 books this year. There are books that I read ten years ago that I thoroughly enjoyed and what is the sense of reading books if you cannot revisit them another time? I am pleased with my re-reads, majority of these reads felt like visiting an old friend.
I consider myself a really hard reviewer, but in looking at my ratings over the year, it seems majority of the books I read were 3 stars. This is something I will be working on next year, but how do I make sure a book is 5 stars before I pick it up? A question I am still asking myself. #Help.
5 Stars: 29
4 Starts: 66
3 Stars: 86
2 Stars: 19
