We are heading into our fifth year of hosting Reading Retreats around the Caribbean, To date we have hosted 14 different Reading Retreats on beautiful Caribbean islands including Anguilla, Dominica, Grenada, Jamaica, St. Lucia and Trinidad & Tobago.
Before you book your first Reading Retreat here are five things you should know.
- You don’t have to be a big reader to attend. For the BookOfCinz Reading Retreat you are only required to read one book and that is the book club pick that we meet to discuss while on the retreat. You will know three months in advance the selection you can decide to read before the start or during the retreat. If you are a big reader, walk with all your books and come!
- We welcome everyone! While we mostly get women, our Retreats are open to everyone. Our age ranges from twenty to seventy and we have had a few mother-daughters attending the Retreat. It is a beautiful bonding moment if you grew up in a reading family and you are looking to take a mini break together.
- You decide how to spend your days. While you can decide how you want to spend your Reading Retreat days, either just laying on a beach or reading, you also can take part in daily activities. We do picnics on the beach, waterfalls chasing, cooking classes, sailing tours and other excursions that allow you to fall more in love with the Caribbean island you are visiting.
- Almost everything is included in the cost. Each Retreat will incur a different cost and for 2026 we have Retreats starting at $1,600USD per person and goes up to $3,200USD per person. The cost will include breakfast, some lunches, snacks, dinners, tours, airport transfer, ground transportation, accommodation and a mini goodie bag. The cost does not include some lunches, alcohol, travel insurance and airfare cost. By paying one flat fee we ensure you have all you need for the six days you are with us with no additional or hidden fees.
- It is perfect for shy people or introvert. After hosting numerous retreats, I have seen where the most introverted or shy person will come out of their shell, it happens because you will be amongst likeminded individuals. You will find community with people who love books and reading. Please don’t want on your friend to come with you, come to the retreat to make friends and find community.
If you are still on the fence about coming to a Reading Retreat, I hope this helps!
