One way you can celebrate Read Caribbean is by reading and joining a Caribbean based book club. We have a diverse collection of Book Clubs based here in the Caribbean, majority of them will be reading a #ReadCaribbean selection this month. Here is a list Caribbean based Book Clubs and the book they will be reading in June, be sure to join them!
BookLimerz Book Club
The Booklimerz bookclub is a cozy book club based in Barbados. It started with some friends and has since expanded a little bit. They have members based in Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, Dominica, Peru and Nigeria. They meet every other month and on a rotation basis with each member selecting a book and hosting the discussion.
With June being #ReadCaribbean month they will be focusing a lot more on Caribbean literature.
BookLimerz Book Club will be meeting on Sunday June 27th and it will be a BYOB edition “Bring your own Book” #Readcaribbean session. Everyone will share their reflections and notes about a book of their choice by a Caribbean author. There is one other criteria – you will have to end your presentation of the book with “I recommend this book”. BookLimerz Book Club will be meeting via zoom, to join them for their for June meeting, message them here.
BookOfCinz Book Club
BookOfCinz Book Club was started three years ago with the mission of reading Black Women, Women of Colour and Caribbean Women. BookOfCinz Book Club meets the last Tuesday of each month online via Google Meet.
For the month of June they will be reading DAYLIGHT COME by Diana McCaulay. Daylight Come is set in 2084, where the sun is so hot people must sleep during the day and work at night. This is climate fiction like you’ve never read!

RebelWomen Lit
RebelWomen Lit started off as a book club, and now they are a lit community with a Community Library, Bookstore, Book Subscription Service for Book & Tea Lovers and Book Clubbers, A Podcast and lots of Projects. Majority of their book selections are written by Black authors. For the month of June they will be reading Leone Ross’ Popisho and they meet the first Sunday of July to discuss!
“Everyone in Popisho was born…with a little something…The local name for it was cors. Magic, but more than magic. A gift, nah? Yes. From the gods: a thing that felt so inexpressibly your own. Somewhere far away–or maybe right nearby–lies an archipelago called Popisho. A place of stunning beauty and incorrigible mischief, destiny and mystery, it is also a place in need of change.”
RebelWomen Lit will be meeting online at 1pm JA time/2pm EST on the first Sunday in July to discuss Popisho, go here to register for the discussion.
